Co-Education

St John’s Regional College prides itself on its inclusive, real world, co-educational environment, where each individual student is valued and encouraged to be the best they can be.

One of the key benefits of our Co-educational setting is the ease with which our students transition to the adult arena of university or business. The complexities of learning and working relationships with the opposite sex have been learned through their formative years.

For more than 60 years, St John’s co-educational environment has helped to develop well-rounded and confident young adults with the emotional intelligence, maturity and inclusiveness that are critical for their success as they find their path in the 21^st Century.

St John’s has offered a co-educational learning environment since 1977 when it became the first regional Catholic co-educational College in Australia. It is focused on preparing students for a 21^st Century where both male and female are equal in the opportunity they will have to live lives and pathways of their choosing.

A truly holistic education recognises that in both male and female, created in the image of God , we find  not only the sacred, but our reason to be treated with dignity and respect. Co-education provides a real life model where personal wholeness and moral maturity is developed through decisions and actions that demonstrate our responsibilities to others.

At St John’s, co-education helps to develop a healthy respect between girls and boys as they work and learn together in a variety of settings. Programs directed at addressing social and emotional learning help adolescents to understand their own development and identity  in the context of these relationships.
