EASTER SEASON HOLIDAY BREAK – BEST WISHES TO OUR SCHOOL COMMUNITY

As we approach the Easter holiday break, we extend our best wishes to all students and families for a safe, restful and enjoyable time with loved ones.

The holiday break also provides a valuable opportunity for students to engage in reading, revision and consolidation of key learning from Term 1, helping them feel confident and prepared for the start of Term 2. Even small amounts of regular reading or review over the break can make a positive difference to learning outcomes.

We look forward to welcoming students back refreshed and ready for a strong start to Term 2.

FREE TUTORING SERVICE

Following on from recent Parent–Teacher Interviews, Term 2 will begin with a strong focus on revision, consolidation and targeted support, based on feedback and learning goals discussed between teachers, students and families.

This will provide students with the opportunity to strengthen key skills, build confidence and address areas for growth early in the term.

Families are reminded that our free after‑school tutoring program will continue in Term 2, operating in the library from Monday to Thursday after school.

This additional support is highly recommended for students seeking help with coursework, assessment preparation or study skills.

We encourage students to take advantage of these supports to ensure a positive and successful start to Term 2.

ACADEMIC REPORTING

Beginning this year, interim reports will no longer be issued. Instead, we are implementing a continuous reporting model, which will provide families with more timely, detailed, and actionable information about student learning.

This shift reflects best practice in assessment and supports our commitment to improving communication between school and home. Continuous reporting provides:

  • more timely feedback,

  • greater transparency in learning progress, and

  • a stronger partnership between students, families and teachers.

Families are asked to refer to communication sent via email on Friday 6 March.

If families require assistance with logging into SEQTA Engage please reach out and contact the College.

COMMUNITY NEWS

Thank You to Our Generous Silent Auction Sponsors

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the wonderful businesses and community partners who have supported this year’s Staff Silent Auction and contributed so generously to our annual fundraising campaign.

For 15 years, St John’s Regional College, Dandenong, has proudly partnered with the De La Salle Brothers’ school in Pouthum, Cambodia. This partnership supports the education of underprivileged children living in a rural village across the Mekong River from Phnom Penh. The school serves students, many from displaced, migrant, or economically disadvantaged families, and remains committed to providing kindergarten and primary education to the poorest of the poor. St John’s students and staff visit the school to teach underprivileged students English, and this partnership is an important part of our ongoing commitment to social justice.

The funds raised through our campaign help provide essential resources, including meals, learning materials, improved facilities, new buildings, and tertiary education opportunities for teachers.

The generous donations of dry-goods hampers for our silent auction have played a vital role in strengthening this mission. We thank them for their support as we collectively seek to support life-changing opportunities to children who deserve access to education, care, and hope for a brighter future.

We are proud to recognise and celebrate all participating businesses in our school newsletter, shared with our broad and engaged community. Your partnership not only enriches the lives of students in Pouthum but also demonstrates the power of local generosity making a global impact.

If you own or know a business that would like to support our fundraising efforts, please reach out to kbielinski@sjrc.vic.edu.au

So far, we have raised $1035

Our goal for 2026 is $5000
