Phased Return to Classroom Learning

Following advice from the Chief Health Officer, the Victorian Government and the Catholic Education Commission of Victoria Ltd (CECV) have advised that schools can begin a phased return to onsite schooling.

Stage 1: 25 May – 5 June

In the first stage, students in senior secondary students (Years 11 and 12 Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) and Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE)) and all St Mary’s students will return to school from Tuesday 26 May.

Year 10 students undertaking VCE studies, including VCE VET studies, should also attend school except those students in Year 10 completing RAS and Text and Traditions Unit 1, who will continue to learn remotely until June 10. If this is not possible for your child/children to attend school, our teachers will make sure the work provided to students attending at school is also provided to your child/children via our Learning Management System – SEQTA.

During Stage 1, the existing model of onsite schooling for students who cannot be supervised at home and vulnerable children will remain in place.

Stage 2: from 10 June

All other year levels will return to school from Wednesday 10 June. All students will be expected to attend school as normal.

This means if you choose to keep your child/children home after their year level has returned to onsite schooling, we can no longer support their learning from home but learning materials will continue to be provided on SEQTA. This does not apply to children who need to be absent for health or medical reasons.

Please contact St John’s Administration on 8793 2000 if your children will not be attending school on site.
