St Mary’s College for the Deaf
In 1985, St John’s Regional College made history as the first Catholic Regional College in Victoria to welcome a unit of students that were deaf and hard of hearing.
These students came from St Mary’s School for the Deaf in Portsea and were integrated into mainstream classes with the dedicated support of St Mary’s staff.
Today, St Mary’s – now known as St Mary’s College for the Deaf – remains an integral part of the St John’s community. This long-standing partnership continues to be a model of inclusive education and a source of pride for our College.
